OUR STORY

The Day Everything Changed

What started as persistent tiredness, swelling, and unexplained discomfort soon led to hospital visits, tests, and finally the words that changed our lives forever: chronic kidney disease. In that moment, fear, confusion, and countless questions filled our hearts. Like many families, we knew very little about kidney disease. We did not fully understand what the kidneys do, how serious their failure can be, or how life-changing the diagnosis would become.

Learning About Kidney Disease

As days turned into weeks, we learned that kidney disease is often called a silent illness. Symptoms may not appear early, and many people are diagnosed only when the condition has advanced. We discovered how kidney failure affects not just the body, but also the mind, emotions, finances, and the entire family. We also learned an important truth: early awareness can save lives, yet too many people lack access to information, screening, and timely care.

Life on Dialysis

When kidney function declined further, dialysis became a necessary part of life. Dialysis was not just a medical treatment, it was a complete lifestyle change. Long hours connected to machines, repeated hospital visits, physical weakness, emotional strain, and financial pressure became part of our daily reality. We saw firsthand how exhausting dialysis can be for patients and caregivers alike. Yet, we also witnessed courage, resilience, and faith patients fighting every day just to live, love, and hope.

The Hope of Transplant

Through this journey, we learned that a kidney transplant offers many patients a second chance at life. But we also discovered how difficult the path can be finding a donor, raising funds, navigating medical systems, and waiting with hope and prayer. For many patients, the challenge is not only medical, but also financial and emotional. Too many lives are lost simply because help comes too late.

Why We Founded the Channah Foundation

Our experience opened our eyes to a painful reality: no one should face kidney disease alone. Out of our pain and hope in Jesus Christ was born a purpose, to create awareness, offer support, and bring hope to kidney patients and their families.

The Channah Kidney Foundation

The Channah Kidney Foundation was founded to:

-Educate communities about kidney disease prevention and early detection.

-Support patients on dialysis with care, compassion, and practical help.

-Assist patients in need of transplant funding and guidance.

-Advocate for better access to kidney care.

-Restore hope where fear and despair once lived.

Today, our story continues, not just as survivors, but as advocates. We support patients, we support and encourage families and every life we touch reminds us why this work matters. We believe that with faith, knowledge, compassion, and collective action, lives can be saved. This is our story. And together, we can help write a better future for kidney patients everywhere.
